ULMA Packaging strengthens its presence in the Middle East with the opening of a new subsidiary in Dubai

This event, recognized as one of the most important trade fairs in the sector in the Middle East region, will be the perfect stage to present our latest innovations in packaging technology, designed to improve efficiency, sustainability, and safety in packaging processes.

Packaging solutions at Gulfood Manufacturing 2024

During Gulfood Manufacturing 2024, Ulma will showcase a wide range of packaging solutions designed to address the current challenges of the food industry. Visitors will be able to discover the latest innovations in industrial packaging equipment, automation, and sustainability that allow companies to improve operational efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and ensure maximum food safety.

Ulma will present two packaging machines: a tray sealer for fresh products, the TSA 540, featuring our innovative R-Skin™ technology, and a high-production vertical packaging machine, the VTC 840. Additionally, Ulma will showcase different types of packaging made with our wide range of packaging equipment.

TSA 540 Tray sealer with R-Skin™ technology

Designed for the packaging of fresh products in tray, the TSA 540 features a robust construction, hygienic design, and is completely stainless steel.

One of the key features of this machine is its versatility. It can create cut and seal packaging, skin packs, and modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) with a simple die change. This process is quick and easy, allowing production line adjustments to be made swiftly, minimizing downtime, and providing greater flexibility to accommodate different product types and packaging needs. This makes the TSA 540 an ideal solution for companies requiring dynamic and adaptable production.

In terms of sustainability, the highlight is the incorporation of our innovative R-Skin™ technology. This is an #ULMAweCare technology applied to skin packs, providing packaging a flawless finish while reducing the amount of plastic used. R-Skin™ makes it possible to use much thinner PET trays, reducing their thickness by up to 50%.

Sustainable benefits of R-Skin™

  • Up to 50% reduction in plastic consumption.
  • PCR material incorporated into the tray.
  • Lower carbon footprint during tray production and subsequent logistics and transportation, due to a significant weight reduction.
  • This technology, combined with the exclusive CUT ONTRAY cutting system (cutting within the sealing flap), minimizes plastic consumption both in the tray and in the top film, allowing for significant savings in both consumables.

Financial benefits of R-Skin™

  • Lower costs: reducing the thickness of the trays by up to 300 µ, depending on the application, has a direct impact on the cost of the tray.
  • Lower taxes:
    • Reducing the thickness and weight of the tray also has a direct impact on the taxes imposed on the plastic.
    • Including recycled material in the trays leads to lower taxes due to the reduced use of virgin plastic.

Vertical packaging machine for fresh and frozen products – VTC 840

A VTC 840, one of our fastest vertical packaging machines, capable of producing compact packs with a wash down design and ergonomic format changes.

VTC 840.jpeg

The VTC 840 features our innovative TightBag™ technology, a system that allows the air level inside the packaging to be controlled without making any holes. The amount of air to be extracted is adjustable from the operator’s control screen, allowing the bag size to be adjusted to the product being packaged. Furthermore, since there are no perforations, there is no risk of product contamination.

The optimization of the package directly translates into two areas: savings in logistics costs and waste reduction.

By precisely adjusting the bag size, the final package volume is minimized, reducing the space needed for storage and transportation. This improves logistical efficiency, allowing for more units to be transported per load. As a result, transportation costs are significantly reduced.

Additionally, using an optimal amount of packaging material generates less waste, contributing to a reduction in environmental impact.

In addition to this technology, the machine features our patented SealFlex™ sealing system, a universal system for different types of seals which can be fully adapted to various kinds of films such as paper or other materials.

This way, changeover times are minimized, optimizing maintenance stops and maximizing the machine’s technical availability.

Innovation and proximity: the new subsidiary in Dubai

As part of our internationalization strategy and commitment to customer proximity, Ulma has opened a new subsidiary in Dubai. This expansion strengthens ULMA Packaging’s presence in a strategic region, allowing us to offer faster, more flexible service tailored to the specific needs of customers in the Middle East.
