Delektia and Switch Foods introduce plant-based ready-to-heat meals in the UAE

Delektia, a leading homegrown innovator in the Middle East’s frozen food industry, announces a strategic partnership with Switch Foods, a pioneering UAE-based FoodTech start-up renowned for its innovative plant-based meat alternatives. This collaboration brings products from Switch Foods together with Delektia’s expertise in meal production, offering consumers healthy, fully cooked, frozen, ready-to-heat and eat meal options that provide a convenient and delicious way to enjoy plant-based foods.

Inspired by traditional Middle Eastern recipes, the new offerings include a hearty and comforting Dawood Basha and Kofta with Tahini in addition to a flavourful Bolognese and Chili Con Carne. Each meal is crafted using Switch Foods’ plant-based meat alternatives, renowned for their high-quality ingredients that use pea protein as a base, noted for its excellent amino acid profile and high protein content. Additionally, both Delektia and Switch Foods’ products are free from preservatives, GMOs, soy, allergens, and gluten, and are entirely vegan and halal-certified, catering to a diverse range of dietary needs and preferences.

Ziad Bushnaq, CEO of Delektia Foods, said, “Our partnership with another homegrown brand like Switch Foods allows us to enhance our culinary offerings significantly, introducing a new line of fully cooked, frozen, ready-to-heat and eat plant-based meals tailored to meet our customers’ evolving dietary preferences and demands. Collaborating with Switch Foods was a natural decision, reflecting a shared commitment to sustainability that resonates deeply with our core values. These nutritious, eco-friendly meals are designed for the modern consumer, ensuring home-cooked meals are achievable in just 5 minutes.”

Edward Hamod, CEO of Switch Foods, commented, “We are excited to collaborate with Delektia to bring diverse, nutritious plant-based food options to consumers in formats that extend traditional dining. Our products are designed to mimic the taste and texture of meat, empowering individuals to embrace a healthier lifestyle without compromising on taste or quality.”

He continued, “This initiative is a testament to our commitment to meet consumer demand and inspire others in the industry to follow a similar path. Collaborating with Delektia marks a significant step in advancing sustainable dining and promoting healthier food choices, with each meal contributing towards a greener planet.”

The partnership between Delektia and Switch Foods aligns with the UAE’s vision for food security and sustainability. By introducing locally sourced, plant-based meal options tailored to regional tastes, this initiative supports the nation’s strategic objectives to reduce reliance on food imports while promoting environmental stewardship within the region.

The new plant-based meals are now available on delektia.com and through multiple delivery platforms such as Deliveroo, Talabat Mart, Kibsons, Noon, Instashop, and soon to be available in retail stores across the region, offering consumers easy access to delicious, nutritious, and environmentally friendly meal options.
